Van Gogh left Saint-Rémy on May 19, 1890. He spent three days in Paris before moving to Auvers-sur-Oise, a little town som one hour NW from Paris. There, a few other artists had settled after the railway was built in 1846 (for instance, Daubigny whom van Gogh admired). His brother Theo recommended Vincent to doctor Gachet, who was also a friend of Camille Pissarro and Paul Cézanne. On July 27, Vincent shot himself and died July 29.
During just nine weeks he had spent in Auvers, he had created 106 pieces.
