The Ghanaian Upper East Regional Museum was founded in 1972 and is located in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region in Ghana. Declared aim of this museum is it "...to preserve the material culture of the Upper East Region, while educating the populace, especially the youth, on the need to protect and remember their local heritage....".
