This series consists of photographs taken or accumulated by the Bureau of Animal Industry to document its interest in breeding and caring for horses and dogs. The photographs depict various breeds (posed) of dogs. The views of horses, depict breeds (some posed); barns and stalls; equipment (artificial insemination); fences; hitches; measuring instruments; mules; points of the horse; views taken at the Beltsville Agricultural Center; Morgan Horse Farm, Middlebury, Vermont; horse pens near Miles City, Montana, and other miscellaneous views. Many of the later photographs were taken by L.W. Beeson and W.A. Stenhouse of the Bureau. There are some negatives for these prints in Record Group 17, Series N.
