Français : Pierre Séguier, premier magistrat du royaume, fut le principal protecteur de Le Brun pendant sa jeunesse. Ce portrait fut sans doute peint dans le contexte de l’Entrée royale de Louis XIV et de Marie-Thérèse à Paris, le 26 août 1660, après leur mariage à Saint-Jean-de-Luz le 9 juin de la même année.
