English: Thang Tong Gyalpo, Chakzampa, Tsöndrü Zangpo (c. 1385–1485) — a renowned Tibetan Buddhist Lama (associated with the Sakya, Shangpa Kagyu, and Nyingma traditiions), yogi, physician, blacksmith, architect, and pioneering civil engineer.
- He designed/built up to 100 iron chain suspension bridges to ease travel in the Himalayas, and founded the Gonchen Monastery and Tibetan opera (Lhamo).
