English: Taunton was a composite clipper built 1868 by Denton, Gray & Co., West Hartlepool, County Durham, yard number 73 for Watts, Millburn & Co.'s China tea trade. 1881 sold to G. B. Meager, Swansea and rigged as a barque. 1892 sold to J. A. Ferreira & Co., Lisbon and renamed Emilia. 1898 struck Thunderbolt Rock on passage Lourenco Marques for New Orleans, towed to Port Elizabeth and sank.
Her dimensions were 55,3 x 9,8 m and she had 705 GRT (IMO Nr.: 60830).[1][2]
