English: "Stiltegebieden" (Silence areas) are a category of protected areas in the Netherlands and in Flanders where human-made sounds (anthropophony) shall not exceed 40 decibel and where the natural soundscape (biophony and geophony) takes priority.
Nederlands: Een stiltegebied is een milieubeschermingsgebied waarin de geluiden van flora en fauna overheersen en niet-natuurlijke geluiden onder 40 decibel blijven moeten.
