English: The Collegiate Church of Ss. Mary, John the Evangelist and Elisabeth of Hungary in Bützow, though a Lutheran church since 16th c. still retained its Catholic name. It is a construction typical for the Northern German brick Gothic style. The Collegiate Church was built in the second half of the 13th c., when Bützow was the capital of the temporalities and residence of the prince-bishops of Schwerin, with their ecclesiastical seat in Schwerin in Mecklenburg. The building is a three-nave hall church with ambulatory and polygonal quire and a tower of 74 m height.
