English: 19th century Steamboats on the lower Colorado River below Black Canyon to the the Sea of Cortez.
- The steamboats entered the river at its mouth in Sonora (Mexico), and went upstream, for communication and international trade, to ports along the river banks in present day east California and west Arizona (U.S.).
- Active from the 1850s until competition from railroads in 1877, began to diminish their use until the subsequent construction of dams along the lower river finished them in 1916.
