English: The South Yard at the National Railway Museum in York is the area to the west of the Station Hall. The hall is the former York goods shed, and the South Yard is the area where the tracks entering the goods shed fanned out into parallel roads. The yard is now home to various items of rolling stock, but much of the track area has also been concreted over, either partially (leaving the rails navigable), or fully. Part of the unconcreted area is covered by a temporary structure 53°57′33.16″N 1°5′54.34″W / 53.9592111°N 1.0984278°W / 53.9592111; -1.0984278, allowing better protection for some stock placed inside it, while still allowing visitor access. The Borough Market Junction signal box has also been erected in the yard.
