English: Routemaster bus RML898 (reg. WLT 898, ex-XFF 813) was delivered to London Transport in December 1961. In its first two years of existence it embarked on two tours of the United States, first to San Francisco, then New Orleans. It eventually went into service in London on route 104 on May 1964. As with all RML buses, in the early 1990s it was re-engined (Iveco) and refurbished. It saw continual use in London into the privatisation era, passing in 1994 into the fleet of Stagecoach East London. In 1995 it was re-registered as XFF 813. By August 2003 it had passed to another London operator, Blue Triangle, who re-fitted it with an AEC engine, and exhibitted it at Showbus 2004. It then passed into private ownership, being restored to its original registration of WLT 898 and being restored to original London Transport condition, going into service with Routemaster Travel South, a private hire company based in Gillingham, Kent, while also appearing at other rallies and events.
