English: Routemaster bus RM541 (reg. 789 UXA, ex-WLT 541) was delivered to London Transport in December 1960, registered as WLT 541, going into service on routes 207/A and 255 for a manual gearbox trial. It saw continual use in London into the privatisation era, passing in 1994 into the fleet of London Central, allocated to route 36. In 1997 it was one of several London Central Routemasters given life-extending refurbishments and new Scania engines. It later saw use on for London Central's sister company London General on route 11 in 2003, before returning to Central for route 12. With route 12 losing its Routemasters on 5 November 2004, it was finally withdrawn from service, having been re-registered as 789 UXA a month earlier. In the same month it passed to the dealer Ensignbus and was one of the buses auctioned off in their 'Routemaster Raffle' in December 2004. It was purchased by a private owner in Bradford, for preservation. At some point it was repainted into the blue colours of former northern England operator Samuel Ledgard, which ceased to exist in the 1970s [1].
