The Pereguan is a historical gold weight of the Akan in Ghana and the Ivory Coast for the weighing of gold dust.

Regional name variants:

  • Pereguan (b - d)
  • Pereguane, Peleguane
  • Epereguan, Epeleguane

The equalization of "Pereguan" with "Ta" or "Benna ne dwoasuru" (both at Garrard) is misleading.

Theoretical weight:

- 68.328 g (Abel for Agni)
- 70.080 g (Abel for Agni)
- 70.956 g (Abel for Asante)
- 70.4 g (Garrard)

Real weight:

- 71.1 g g (Inventory number MHNT.ETH.2010.25.128 in the "Muséum de Toulouse") (Brass figure of two birds face to face.)

Value equivalents:

1 Péréguan = 312 Taku = 468 Ba (Abel for 68.328 g)
1 Péréguan = 320 Taku = 480 Ba (Abel for 70.08 g)
1 Péréguan = 324 Taku = 486 Ba (Abel for 70.956 g)
1 Pereguan = 270 Taku (Garrard)
240 Taku = 360 Ba = 40 Ackies (Abel)
(1 Ounce = 16 Ackies (European trade))
