English: PAPAL STATES - Seals of the official documents of the popes (bullae or "bulls") ordered and divided by popes.
Deutsch: Eigentlich werden päpstliche Siegel als Bullen bezeichnet, die mit einem Typar zwei Bleiplättchen über Hanf oder Seide verbindet und dabei prägt. Der Begriff Bulle ist aber hier leider unspezifisch für Papsturkunden aller Art in Gebrauch.
