English: The Ostaszewskis, of the Clan of Ostoja , originate in the Ciechanów region of Mazovia, to the north west of Warsaw. The first known representative is Stibor of Ostaszewo who in 1446 obtained a privilege from Bolesław IV of Warsaw, duke of Mazovia. In the eighteenth century one branch of the Ostaszewskis moved to Gołotczyzna, to the north west of Warsaw, another to Wzdów and Klimkówka, to the east of Cracow, yet another to Pyszki in Ukraine.
