English: The junction here was originally called Old Turn Junction and Deep Cutting Junction. It has recently also been called Farmer's Bridge Junction, although this was originally near to the top lock of Farmer's Bridge locks. The original Birmingham and Fazeley Canal began at that top lock. The stretch of water between here and the top lock was part of the Newhall Branch of the Main Line. The circular island was added to allow emergency stoppage of water should the railway tunnel (New Street Tunnel) which runs very close beneath the Farmer's Bridge part of the junction be breached.
