English: This building was originally completed in 1680 as the Dutch East India Company's Slave Lodge. It was converted for use as government offices in the 19th century by Thibault (Inspector of Government Buildings), Anreith (sculptor) and Schutte (contractor).Thomas Bain was famous for his road building skills and constructed many passes still in use today.
