English: The old Cape Point Lighthouse, with lantern and lights, were manufactured in 1857 in England, and erected at Cape Point in 1860. The tower is a round, prefabricated cast iron construction, standing 249 meters above sea level. It was replaced by the Cape Point Lighthouse in 1919. The wrecking of the Portuguese liner Lusitania in 1911 was a major factor, as light from the new lighthouse, being situated 162 metres lower, is less often obstructed by cloud.
