History
[edit]- 1915-08-18 launched at Kaiserliche Werft, Danzig (Yard No 24)
- 1915-12-17 completed and commissioned as U 46, Kaiserliche Marine (Imperial German Navy)
- 1918-11-26 handed over to Japan
- 1920 registered as O 2, Imperial Japanese Navy
- 1921-04-xx partially dismantled at Kure Navy Yard
- 1925 rebuilt at Yokosuka Navy Yard as a testbed for submarine salvage operations
- 1925-04-21 lost in storm on transfer from Yokosuka to Kure
- 1927-08-05 spotted by an U.S. merchant ship west of Oahu, later scuttled
