English: Balzac is a bronze statue made by Auguste Rodin in 1898. It was commissioned in 1891 by the Societé des Gens des Lettres, and was presented at the Salon of 1898. The Symbolist representation of Honoré de Balzac caused an outrage at the Salon, and was not cast in bronze until after Rodin died. (Source: Musée Rodin)
