About: light wheeled, off-road capable, and frequently multi-functional, military vehicles, that are or were called "jeeps" – either by military personnel, by the media, and/or by the general populace.
The boundary of what is considered "light" has proven fluid, but is (re)defined first and foremost by military doctrine – of a country, military branch, and/or era.

The term 'jeep' was popularized globally, beginning with the World War II, 14-ton, 4x4, Willys MB and Ford GPW vehicles, and adopted from English into many other languages.
What people mean by the word 'jeep' varies over time, between user groups, across languages and countries.

The term 'Jeep' was trademarked (from 1943–1950), see Category:Jeep vehicles.
