English: The Melanope was an iron fullrigged ship built in 1876 by W.H. Potter & Co., Liverpool for Australian Shipping Company, Liverpool. Her dimensions were length: 258.2 ft (78.6 m); width: 40.2 ft (12.2 m); depth: 23.7 ft (722.3 cm) and tonnage of 1686 GRT, 1608 NRT and 1498 tons under deck. Later she sold to J.J. Moore & Co., San Francisco. The Melanope made her last voyage under sail 1906 in ballast up the Pacific coats and wrecked on the bar of the Columbia river and sold later to the Canadian Pacific Railway, Vancouver.[1]
