The Mahakaleshwar temple, also called Mangarh Shiva temple, is a 9th century or earlier Hindu temple in the foothills of south Himachal Pradesh. An ASI protected national monument, it is notable for its historic door jamb with Yamuna and Ganga along with a sakha of Shaiva motifs. It is also notable for later Buddhist additions such as the Tibetan-stupa–style shikhara as well as a few nearby stupas. The site has numerous mutilated Hindu artwork which includes Nandi with broken mouth, damaged Durga Mahisasuramardini, Vishnu, Ganesha, Hanuman, Mahabharata brothers and others. Modern era miniature statues have also been added to the premises.
