English: The Major Project on Mutual Appreciation of Eastern and Western Cultura Values was adopted by the General Conference of Unesco at its ninth session (New Delhi, November 1956) and became active on 1 January 1957. A span of ten years having been set for it, the experiment came to an end on 31 December 1966. The purpose of the project was in essence to promote contacts and understanding between peoples of the East and the West through better mutual appreciation of their respective cultural values.
