English: Littleton is a remnant village in Surrey in the borough of Spelthorne, in the United Kingdom. It is centred a few hundred metres north of Shepperton Green to the south (from which it is separated by the small River Ash) and about 800 metres ESE of Laleham. Its central and northern lands were taken by the Queen Mary Reservoir, the slopes of which are used for a sheep farm. It became part of Sunbury on Thames Urban District in 1930, taken over by its present borough in 1974. Its manor's private grounds (demesne) have been taken over by Shepperton Studios (named after the local Post Town) and uses as one of its buildings the circa. 1810s-fronted the Grade II* house, with 15th, 16th and 17th century components. Its spiral staircase has stone treads to side walls; it has a very large and deep fireplace; staircase window of two panels of armorial glass, one probably late C17 or early C18, said to be the arms of Lady Catherine Grey, sister of Lady Jane Grey. Other probably C16, said to be the arms of Lord Hertford, her husband. First floor:- Many bedrooms with exposed wall and ceiling beams, some refixed dado panelling. Roof has some original principal rafters in old range. Reputedly extended by Cardinal Wolsey, once part of his estate. Associations with Lady Jane Grey and her husband Lord Hertford. William IV (uncle of Queen Victoria) is said to have stayed here a few times when friendly with Lady Caroline Wood at Littleton Park. The home of the ex-Dutch Bouwens family for about a century.
