Deutsch: Die Kunstzone Karlsplatz ist ein von karlsplatz.org im Auftrag der Stadt Wien umgesetztes Projekt zur Vernetzung der rund um den Karlsplatz ansässigen Institutionen aus den Bereichen Kunst, Kultur und Bildung (u.a. Künstlerhaus, Kunsthalle-project space, Wien Museum, Technische Universität), um den Platz selbst zu einem Raum des kulturellen Austauschs zu machen. Im Sommer 2008, parallel zur Fußball-Europameisterschaft, fanden dabei auf dem Karlsplatz zahlreiche Konzerte und Performances vor allem österreichischer Künstler statt.
English: Kunstzone Karlsplatz (Art Zone Karlsplatz) is a project of karlsplatz.org on behalf of the City of Vienna (Austria) to link the several cultural institutions residing around the Karlsplatz (e.g. Künstlerhaus, Kunsthalle-project space, Wien Museum, Vienna University of Technology) to make the square itself an urban space of cultural interchange. In the summer of 2008, during the UEFA Euro 2008, numerous concerts and performances of mainly Austrian artists took place.
Since 2008, there is also an annual so-called Karlstag (on a weekend in late spring or early summer), when access to most of the surrounding museums and art exhibitions is for free and there are concerts in front of Karlskirche.
