The Kazasker Abdurrahman Çelebi Mosque was lost during a great fire in 1908 known as the Golden Horn fire. Its walls remained in place but at some point were taken down because a new road was planned to pass through them. As it turned out the road missed the mosque, but that was gone anyhow. However, the Kazasker mosque has been restored. It seems to have the looks of 1554-5 when Sinan designed it, though now a brand-new building, looking as if it just got out of some factory. The workmanship on the wooden pieces is by masters from Kahramanmaraş. Kazasker is explained as "Literally, it means military judge, army judge. The establishment of Kazaskery in the Ottomans is during the reign of Sultan Murat I. The first Kazasker was "Kara Halil from Çandar". Do note there is a different Kazasker İvaz Efendi Mosque near the Walls.
