English: Jeu de la Mythologie — The Game of Mythology was imagined and composed by Jean Desmarets de Saint-Sorlin, on the orders of Cardinal Jules Mazarin, who wished by this to procure to the king Louis XIV of France, then child, an instructive amusement. On the 9th of April, 1644, Desmarests obtained a royal privilege for cards, which he at once yielded, with the ownership of the plates, to the bookseller and publisher Henri Le Gras.
