Images of scanned pages put in this category may be suitable for speedy deletion. High quality marbled or decorative pages (used for book binding) may be suitable for Category:Marbled paper or Category:Decorative papers. Pages with hand-written notes or unusual stamps but without printed text may be a useful historic record, and decorated or embossed covers of rare book volumes are within project scope and should be removed from this category.

Autodetection of blanks by Faebot may occasionally add to this category, based on a low standard deviation. This finds images that are single blocks of any colour apart from ignoring a 7% border and minor marks composing a very low proportion of the image. This may include back covers and blank pages where the page is clean of images, as well as picking up the rare non-page black blanks that are sometimes included in the Internet Archive scanning process. Early runs show that accuracy is excellent, with unavoidable odd false matches around 1% of the total which invariably would need human judgement to decide to keep. See the project page for more details.
