History[edit]
- 1977 Named Castillo de Montearagón; Flag: Spain
- Call sign: EHFS
- Port:
- Owner: Naviera Elcano, chartered to Repsol
- 1984-1986 Renamed Castillo de Lopera
- Converted to bulk carrier as part of "Operation Elcano" at Ferrol
- Ship split in half; new bulk carrier forward portion built
- Old front portion given a new back portion, IMO 8026579 Castillo de Montearagón
- Same procedure done with Castillo de Lorca (IMO 7386960; turned into IMO 8026581 Castillo de Lorca, old back portion renamed Castilla de la Luz
- 1996 Ships split again at Hyundai Mipo
- New 1980s front part of 7386996 added to 1980s back of 8026581 and renamed Castillo de Simanca; remainder scrapped
- Other two ships also combined, 1980s front part of 7386960 added to 1980s back of 8026579 and renamed Castillo de Belmonte; remainder scrapped
- The newer ships both scrapped in 2009 in Chittagong
- I'm sure there are some mistakes in the above somewhere, very confusing
