English: This is the text of a musical comedy performed on the occasion of a ceremony held to celebrate the renewal of the burghership in Solothurn (Burger-Recht) of the monastery of St. Urban (Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland), under the abbot Augustinus, i.e. Augustin Müller (holding office 1751-1768). St. Urban had the burghership of seven cities in Switzerland; the musical comedy equates them with cities in classical Greece, for example Argos = Lucerne and Athens = Solothurn. Homer (Homerus) stands for the abbot. The author is unknown; various online catalogues give misleading author information such as Homer or even Saint Augustine - it seems that the baroque title was read only cursorily, catching the big names "Homerus" and "Augustinus" but not the context. As mentioned, Homerus is a character in the play and Augustinus is the abbot of the celebrated monastery.
Deutsch: Dies ist der Text eines komischen Singspiels, das zur Feier der Erneuerung des Bürgerrechts (Burger-Recht) des Klosters St. Urban (Kanton Solothurn, Schweiz) mit der Stadt Solothurn unter dem Abt Augustin Müller (amtierend 1751-1768) aufgeführt wurde. St. Urban war mit sieben Schweizer Städten "verburgert"; das Singspiel setzt sie mit Städten im klassischen Griechenland gleich, beispielsweise ist Argos = Luzern und Athen = Solothurn. Homer steht für den Abt. Der Autor ist unbekannt; verschiedene Onlinekataloge enthalten irreführende Autorenangaben, u.a. Homer und sogar den heiligen Augustinus - offenbar wurde der barocke Titel in diesen Fällen beim Katalogisieren nur flüchtig gelesen, wobei man nur gerade die grossgedruckten Namen Homerus und Augustinus beachtete, aber nicht den Kontext. Wie gesagt ist Homerus hier eine Figur im Stück und Augustinus der Abt des gefeierten Klosters.
