The Holiday Inn in Allentown first opened in July 1958 at the intersection of US 22 and PA 309, just to the north of Allentown in Whitehall Township. This motel closed in February 2002. It was sold and renamed as a Day's Inn afterwards.

In February 1993, the "Holiday Inn Express" opened in Foglesville, about ten miles west on US 22, and was operated as a satellite of this property, which was renamed "Holiday Inn - West". In 2003 the Foglesville location closed and it reopened in Kuhnsville, as the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Allentown West

In 1999, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Allentown Center opened in Dorneyville, on West Hamilton Boulevard. The motel is located across from Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, whom it primarily provides accommodations for park tourists.

A new Allentown Holiday Inn opened in the former Allentown Hilton/Clarion/Crowne Plaza at North Ninth and Hamilton Streets (904 Hamilton) in October 2007. However the hotel was sold in December 2017 to city Center Development, which closed the property on December 27th, 2017.
