English: Masonry in which stones, bricks, tiles or pebbles are laid aslant in alternate rows at about 45°. When one row or course leans to the left, the following one, above and underneath , leans to the right. All rows together form a zigzag pattern but the line between each row is quite straight.

Français : Appareil en arête-de-poisson dans lequel les pierres, briques ou galets sont inclinés entre 45 et 50 degrés . Chaque rangée est disposée dans le sens inverse de la précédente et de la suivante. Contrairement à celui de l’appareil en épi, le joint de lit entre chaque rangée (assise) est rectiligne.
