The Heimbach Baking Company, 901 Tilghman Street, began in 1911 when Henry S. Erb and Oswin W. Heimbach began the company as the Erb & Heimbach Bakery. In 1915, Erb passed and it became the Heimbach Baking Company. In 1922 after the death of Oswin Heimbach, Raymond W Fetzer purchased the firm and reorganized the company.

The bakery was purchased by the Freihofer's Bakery of East Allentown in April 1963, after which many of its products except bread loaves were made and shipped from Freihofer's on Union Boulevard. It was closed in 1967, the bakery was sold to Americo Volpe.
