The 'Golden Mile' viaduct in Coalbrookdale, over the Upper Furnace Pool and the Upper Works of the Coalbrookdale Company. Built in 1862-64, the railway acquired the name 'Golden Mile' on account of the high cost of building it on this difficult site, with a curved viaduct over a lake, and without disturbing the operations of the iron company beneath.
