English: The freight tram system was provided by the Royal Saxon Government and operated by the Dresden Tramway network. The track gauge was 3 ft ⅜ in (1,000 mm) and the route length was 1,035 yd (0,946 km). To avoid transshipment the standard gauge wagons of the Dresden – Werdau mainline were carried on narrow gauge transporter wagons to a mill and a leather factory. The tramway opened in 1906 and its service discontinued in 1972 in favour of trucks.
