Deutsch: Die Synagoge am Bornplatz im Hamburger Grindelviertel wurde nach Plänen von Samme Engel und Ernst Friedhelm im neuromanischen Stil erbaut und 1906 eingeweiht. Mit 1200 Sitzplätzen diente sie als Hauptsynagoge dem orthodoxen Deutsch-Israelitischen Synagogenverband, einem der drei Kultusverbände in der Deutsch-Israelitischen Gemeinde. In der Reichspogromnacht 1938 wurde die Synagoge verwüstet und 1939 abgerissen.
English: The synagogue at Bornplatz (now renamed Joseph-Carlebach-Platz in memory of the head rabbi) in the Grindel district of Hamburg was built in a neo-Romanesque style following plans by the architects Samme Engel and Ernst Friedhelm, and dedicated in 1906. With 1200 seats, it served as the main synagogue of the orthodox worship association (Deutsch-Israelitischer Synagogenverband, i.e. German Israelite synagogal association), one of the three worship associations within the Ashekenazi congregation Deutsche-Israelitische Gemeinde (DIG). The DIG's other two worship associations (Kultusverband) were the Masorti Verband Neue Dammtorsynagoge and the Reform Tempelverband. The Talmud Torah School was erected nearby in 1911. The synagogue was devastated in the Kristallnacht and razed in 1939.
