English: Fob seals are signets (seal matrices) that are attached to fob chains and worn as adornment on a pocket or belt. They function similarly to a signet ring, allowing the wearer to easily carry and utilize a personal seal stamp. George Washington was known for wearing as many as two fob seals at a time, as picture in John Trumbull's portrait George Washington Before the Battle of Trenton. One of his fob seals is in the collection of the historical division of the United States House of Representatives.
