The Five Cardinal Virtues (gojō 五常) is a Confucian concept. The virtues are:
- Rén (jin: 仁, benevolence, humaneness)
- Yì (gi: 義; 义, righteousness, justice, loyalty)
- Lǐ (rei: 禮; 礼, proper rite, courtesy, decorum)
- Zhì (chi: 智, knowledge, wisdom)
- Xìn (shin: 信, integrity, good faith)
