Typical fences in East Germany, fabricated in the time of the GDR by local locksmiths or homeworkers (GDR = German Democratic Republic = DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik, 1949-1989). These typical fences are more and more vanishing. Examples in gallery are from Biesenthal and surroudings (Brandenburg/Germany). But soon they will be vanished and replaced by new products from the property-market. Photos are shot in the year 2008. There is even a book about these fences: "DDR-Zaunwelten, Zäune und Zeitzeugen - Geschichten zur Alltagskultur der DDR" by Nicole Andries/Majken Rehder, Jonas Verlag, Marburg 2005; 78 pages.
