English: Essex Records was an american record label based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded by David Miller as a part of his record company Miller International Company of Media in 1951 and issued pop, country, rhythm & blues, jazz and gospel material until the label was closed down in 1956. Essex' most important artist was Bill Haley, who had his first hit with Essex and left the label in 1954 for Decca Records.
