English: "Description des maladies de la peau" by Jean-Louis Alibert is a landmark work on dermatology. The first edition came out in four volumes during 1806-1814. A second edition in two volumes came out in 1825. Both editions feature 56 color plates engraved by Salvatore Tresca, illustrating advanced stages of various skin diseases, in an age when effective treatments did not exist. These illustrations were later re-engraved for "Clinique de l’Hôpital Saint-Louis, ou Traité complet des maladies de la peau" by another engraver whose talents did not match Tresca's.
