The De Dion-Bouton 8 CV was a s small automobile built 1902-1928. At first a single cylinder car, these models were followed by models with two and four cylinder engines.

When the light, tube-framed Populaire series ended in 1907, De Dion-Bouton introduced a new generation of heavier built cars with pressed steel frames. Among these was the new 8 CV. Following the usual De Dion-Bouton practise, even small changes led to a new model designation. This started with a single letter, and was followed by double letter designations, starting with AA, followed by AB, and so on. As this was a chronological system, these combinations are unrelated.
