English: Crown of India was a four-masted iron barque built in 1885 by Ramage & Ferguson, Leith for Robertson, Cruickshank & Co, Liverpool. Her dimensions were: length × beam × depth = 276.6 × 41.3 × 24.1 ft (84.3 × 12.5 × 7.3 m) and her tonnages were 2,056 GRT and 1,975 NRT. In 1915, after she had left Barry for Pernambuco with a cargo of coal, the German submarine U-35 captured and sank her 70 miles NW of St Ann's Head.[1][2]
