The Corn Exchange National Bank & Trust Company Building at 249-251 Arch Street at the corner of N. 3rd Street in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was built in 1902 in the neo-classical style. The Corn Exchange was founded in 1853 in New York City, where it was headquartered. The Philadelphia bank was a branch of the New York bank. In 1952, the Girard Trust Company of Philadelphia acquired the Corn Exchange's Philadelphia branch and was renamed the Girard Trust Corn Exchange Bank. This building was known as the Girard Corn Exchange (although the Girard Trust's McKim, Mead & White-designed 1907 headquarters building at Broad & Chestnut was also known by that name) until 1970 when it was sold to the Seamen’s Church Institute as housing for sailors. It was added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1977. In 2003, the building was sold to a developer, which planned to renovate it. It was used as the living space for the MTV series Real World Philadelphia. (Sources: [1], [2])
