The Columbian Magazine, or, Monthly Miscellany was a Philadelphia magazine starting in September 1786 and lasting until 1792. It was founded by Mathew Carey, Charles Cist, William Spotswood, Thomas Seddon, and James Trenchard. It was run by Carey (1786-1787; who left to found The American Museum), Spotswood (1787- 88), Trenchard (1789-90), and finally by William Young (1790-1792).[1] There was apparently a magazine of the same name (and subtitle) published in Kingston, Jamaica, from 1796-1799.[2]
