Thomas of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester, 1st Earl of Buckingham, 1st Earl of Essex, KG (1355-1397) was the 5th surviving son of King Edward III of England and Philippa of Hainault.

Thomas of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester (1355-1397), 5th surviving son of King Edward III, married Eleanor de Bohun, the elder daughter and co-heiress of Humphrey de Bohun, 7th Earl of Hereford. His eldest daughter and eventual sole heiress was w:Anne of Gloucester who married three times:
- Firstly to w:Thomas Stafford, 3rd Earl of Stafford, without issue;
- Secondly to w:Edmund Stafford, 5th Earl of Stafford, the youngest brother of her first husband, by whom she had issue two daughters and one son:
- w:Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham, by whom the arms of Thomas of Woodstock were quartered, exceptionally in the 1st quarter as a mark of royal favour;
- Thirdly to w:William Bourchier, 1st Count of Eu by whom she had issue, represented today by the w:Wrey baronets (heirs of the Bourchier Earls of Bath), who quarter the arms of Bourchier, Bohun and Thomas of Woodstock
