Arms 1727-death, label altered
On 20 July 1725 w:Prince William, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), as a grandson of the sovereign King George I, was granted use of the royal arms of King George I, differenced by a label argent of five points, the centre point bearing a cross gules, the first, second, fourth and fifth each bearing a canton gules. On 30 August 1727, as a son of the new sovereign King George II, William's difference changed to a label argent of three points, the centre point bearing a cross gules.[1]
