Challenge was built by William H. Webb in New York (shipyard along Lewis Street between Fifth and Seventh Streets in Manhattan)[1] and owned by N. L. and G. Griswold. Her dimensions were: length × beam × draft = 230.6 × 43.2 × 26 ft (70.2 × 13.1 × 7.9 m) and weighing 2,006.5 tons. Renamed Golden City in 1862. She was wrecked off the French coast of the English Channel in 1876.
