English: Ceiling paintings in Stiftskirche St. Gallen.
  • Choir: Fresco paintings by Joseph Wannenmacher, 1766. Restored in 1964. (Until 1964, this part was decorated by secco paintings by Antonio Orazio Moretto, painted in 1819–1821 over the deteriorating Wannenmacher paintings. Moretto did not just restore Wannenmacher's paintings but painted entirely new compositions. The inscriptions remained, so that the paintings did not correspond with the inscribed titles at all. The only remaining original fresco in the choir was the relatively small fresco of the Heart of Mary in the most eastern bay of the northern side aisle.)
  • Dome: Fresco designs by Johann Christian Wenzinger, painted by Joseph Wannenmacher, 1760. Altered by Antoni Dick in 1773 after designs by Wenzinger.
  • Nave: Fresco designs by Johann Christian Wenzinger, painted by Joseph Wannenmacher, 1760.
